What is EFT?

EFT tapping therapy side of hand point.

EFT combines elements of exposure or talk therapy with the somatic practice of tapping your fingertips on acupressure points located along the meridian energy lines (primo vascular system) on your upper body, head and hands while focusing on an issue or emotion you'd like to address.

Developed in the 1990s by therapist Gary Craig, the technique has been taken up by millions worldwide as both a self-help tool and a practitioner lead modality.

Clinical or evidence-based EFT has been shown to be effective for cravings and weight issues, anxiety and depression, PTSD, phobias, pain relief, performance, stress and more.

**Where you tap is based on the ancient system of acupuncture. Certain points (areas important in acupuncture) have been shown to have a powerful impact on the way the brain responds to stress and the way it processes information.

Peta Stapleton, Ph.D. - The Science Behind Tapping

The evidence for EFT’s efficacy is impressive.

In the last 20 years, there have been 290 papers looking at EFT and related topics in the field of ‘Combined Somatic and Cognitive Therapies’. Since 2017 there have been in excess of 70 Random Controlled Trial research papers, 5 meta-analyses in the field, most of which relate to EFT directly.
